Valentines for our Soldiers in Iraq
Our 2006 sleepover on January 13th was LOTS of fun. We had 31 kids, 4 adults and made some new friends as we played games, watched a movie in the sanctuary and made bagel bird feeders for the trees along the church parking lot. We also celebrated the success of our phone cards for our soldiers fundraiser held in January. We raised $307.00 and donated that to cellphonesforsoldiers.com who generously shipped 200 60-minute phone cards to our soldiers in “A” Company 426th BSB. That’s a lot of time to talk to their favorite valentine on Valentines Day!
Special thanks to Jackie White for her research as to where to get the best phone cards and to Paul Leader and the American Legion for their generous donation of $115 toward our effort. Also, many thanks to everyone who donated to the PINK church and the BLUE church each week! By the way, the BOYS won by a landslide!! WE ladies were humbled by the experience. (
In January we started the following unit:
Discovering Jesus
1. We Can Believe in Jesus- “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25, 26)
2. We Can Know Jesus- “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
3. We Can Know Jesus- John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
4. We Can Live For Jesus- John 15: 5 NIV “I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
5. We Can Love and ADore Jesus- “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13: 34
Each lesson included Bible teaching, scripture memory, games, teamwork and how to apply all this to the child’s life discussion.
This unit will be completed on February 5th.
One February 12 we will begin a unit titled:
The Twelve Apostles: and will include learning the names of all the Apostles and what they were called to do as apostles as well as what we are to do as followers of Jesus.

3. The Great Commission
We welcomed Steven P, Davidson M and Jared G to Believer’s Square in January. We are always thrilled when we see new faces and the boys are a lot of fun to be around!
We have a friendly rivalry going with Pastor Matt … He thinks he can get 50 people to the adult Bible study on Sunday night before we get 50 children to Believers Square. Currently we are both at about 32 in our groups each week. Let’s invite as many as we can as fast as we can so we win this competition!!!
