ON APRIL 19TH, the YOUTH will be sharing with the Believers Square kids and we look forward to that evening as we will see some of our ‘graduated’ Believers Square Kids again.

On April 26th we will have our end of year celebration as a group; our plans are still in the making for the evening.

Happy Birthday in April to:

Terry B-April 10th
Terry is an excellent artist, specializing in creatures and cartoons. He likes video games and always has some interesting character or animal to show me when he arrives. He is very creative and friendly to everyone he meets. Terry has a great sense of humor and makes us all smile.

Madison G- April 15th
Madison is a quiet and polite young lady who likes to draw and is always kind to others. She is conscientious about everything she does and eager to learn about Jesus and is excited to try new things used to communicate the lessons- like games, crafts, object talks etc.

Carolyn T April 28th
Carolyn is a very insightful young lady who consistently adds to our lessons with thoughtful answers and ideas about what the scriptures are saying to us. She is an excellent help to the smaller children and we can always count on her setting a good example.

Our Prayer Pals have all been assigned now and some have received clues, cards and/or gifts from their prayer pal adults already!!!
Please continue to pray for your prayer child as the Lord brings them to your mind. School is coming to a close and Spring is here- That means tests, more home time, outdoor play, bike riding and vacations. Pray for the safety of your child, as well as the spiritual life of your child. We appreciate your willingness to pray and encourage our Hess Road Children. They are the future of our church and our community!

Winter at Believer's Square

Greetings from all of us at Believer’s Square!

We had a great time at our Winter Sleepover on January 11-12. 24 children attended the sleepover. We watched a movie on the big screen, played games, had dinner, played board games and got to know some new friends! Thanks to Mary B and Hannah T for bringing guests!

Also in January we earned a couple of Movie nights enjoying Veggie Tales movies and snacks and studied the Armor of God and why we need to put it on every day befpre heading off to school and everywhere we need to go!

In February we made Valentines for some special people we know and finally learned who our Secret Prayer Pals were for 2007. What great fun that was and how wonderful to know that our church family members were praying for us all year!

By the time you read this, we hope to have the 2008 Secret Prayer Pals all assigned. If you would like to participate, check with a Believers Square leader- Verna B, Wendy G, Sheila H, Jan Rose, Ellen W or Sue Z to see if there are children still available.

Many thanks to all who participated in 2007- it was very important to our kids and we hope important to you as well.

Our Citizen Of the Month for March is…..

Serena H

Serena is six years old and has 2 brothers –Thomas and Owen, and one sister Abby. She is the daughter of Pat and Sheila H.

Serena is in Mrs. Strong’s Sunday School class and she says that is her favorite thing about going to church- being in Sunday School!
Serena was part of the quartet that sang in our “Candy Cane Lane musical” at Christmas and attends Believer’s Square regularly. She is always polite, friendly and interested in whatever is happening at Believer’s Square.

Some interesting facts about Serena include:
She would love to learn how to juggle- have you ever tried to juggle? It isn’t easy but I know Serena will give it her best!

She doesn’t like being in the dark- although when we played Sardines at the sleepover, she was extremely brave and decided to play and did a GREAT job!

When she gets older, she would like to be an artist. (she IS very creative, so I think that is a great choice!)

The hardest thing she has ever done is Ballet class. That is a part of Serena’s life I haven’t had the privilege of sharing, but I am guessing she is a hard worker and a very dainty ballerina.

Besides taking ballet lessons with her sister Abby, Serena plays soccer in the summer and enjoys playing with her dog, Tula and cat, Asanman.

She attends Mrs Wellers Class at Barker Central School. Her favorite subject is Math and she also enjoys science class.

We all enjoy Serena’s sweet gentle spirit and smiles. She is another reason Believer’s Square is a wonderful way to spend your Sunday evening!

Believer’s Square Kids want to remind you to:

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Put it on every day as you get dressed for the day ahead!

Encourage one another! Our Believers Square Kids are very patient, kind and caring toward one another- they set a great example for the rest of us!

Bring in your empty ink jet cartridges and place tem in the box in the LC or on Pastor Matt’s desk, we are almost ready to send in another shipment!!!

Have a great month and see you at church!

Candy Cane Lane -Believer"s Square Christmas Musical 2007

In October (beginning the 14th) we begin CHRISTMAS PLAY PRACTICE. Yes you read that right, Christmas Play Practice!!! This year we will perform the musical- Candy Cane Lane. We have many younger performers this year so it is important that we have good attendance at all practices.
We thank all of you parents in advance for your help with this. There will be Saturday practices nearer to the performance date December 2, and we are hoping to practice during Sunday School hour occasionally as well.

The Christmas play is always a very important event to the kids- they work hard, stretch themselves by getting out of their comfort zone to try new things and they learn to work with others. The end result is threefold- The love of God for all of us is shared, we enjoy an evening of great music, fine performances by our children and wonderful fellowship, AND the kids get a sleepover at church during Christmas break!

Christmas Is Coming!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Seems like only yesterday we were gardening, swimming, camping and having cookouts doesn’t it? And here we are working on the Christmas play, bringing out the warm clothes and boots and locating the snow shovels!

Speaking of the Children’s Christmas play, here are the facts….

MEET ME AT THE MANGER
will be presented on December 3 at 6 p.m.

We invite you to bring your friends, family and neighbors to share in this lively and meaningful Christmas musical presented by our very own Hess Road Kids!

We are praying this musical will be a sweet sound in our Lord’s ear in the season of His birth AND a gift to our church family and community that reminds us all of the true meaning of Christmas. Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to help with lines, create scenery, and costumes and especially to the parents who are helping the children learn lines, sing songs and speak out and speak clearly and get the children to practices so faithfully!

Saturday practices are as follows:
November 18- 10-12 pm
November 25- 10-12 pm
December 2- 10-2 pm (lunch will be served on Dec 2)

Remember that a special presentation from our Pre-schoolers will also be presented that evening It is ALWAYS a favorite of those attending! You won’t want to miss a minute of our Meet Me at the Manger Program.

Happy Back to School!!!

Happy Back to School everyone, Even though summer is probably your favorite time of year, you have to admit it is great to see all of your friends every day! right?

It's also Back to Believer's Square time as well. We have some new things planned this year that weknow will make our time together even more fun and life impacting.
We will continue to do outreach projects several times this year. Many people were touched by this ministry last year and we want this year to be even better.

To kick off our brand new year we will be having a FUN DAY on Saturday September 9th from 10-2 pm. It's called....AMAZING GRACE AND THE AMAZING RACE.
This day will consist of fun and energetic games, brain challenging riddles, teamwork and discovery of the gifts God has given each of us. You will want to dress for PLAY, and there will be some water, so an extra set of play clothes would be great if you think you might get chilly . Flip Flops work well for shoes, sneakers stay wet longer! Kids in grade K-5 are invited and friends are welcome ! Try to remember to bring the registration that you received last day of VBS or got in your Sunday bulletin at church the Sunday before the race. That will help us get started quicker.

On September 10th at 6 p.m. we will begin our new Believer Square year and will meet through the school year in the learning center. Music, Outreach, Lessons on how the Bible applies to us as kids and adults and how we can choose to be like Jesus at school, home and in our community will be shared using stories, games and object lessons. You will definately NOT want to miss it! It is an hour well spent.

Just so you know, there are youth and adult meetings going on Sunday evenings as well. Why not get to know some of your church family a little better through fellowship, study God's Word together and start the week off right.

See you September 9th & 10th at Believer's Square!

Its Official!

It’s Official!!!- Believer’s Square weekly meetings are over for the summer AND for our final meeting on May 21,we accomplished our goal of 50 children at Believer’s Square !! We will now be having a sleepover on June 23 (6 p.m.-10 a.m.) Pastor Matt will be providing the food and lots of fun is being planned including, of course, SARDINES!

Our Summer Event Dates:

June 23- Say Hello to Summer Sleepover
July 21 or 22- We’re not sure about this one yet.
August 14-18- Vacation Bible School All Aboard the Gospel Express!!!!
September 8-9- Camping trip to Lighthouse Christian Camp “Got Jesus?”

Our last meeting was all about “What Time is It?” and we discussed the following ..

  1. It’s time to end Believer’s Square for the school year.

  2. It’s time to plan what fun things we can do this summer.
As you can see above, we accomplished these ‘timely’ goals.
Then, we went into the most important “What Time is It? Questions…
The Bible says in…2 Corinthians 6:2
For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Waiting till you are older to accept Jesus is NOT a good idea. Many who wait till they are older make many mistakes and choose to do evil things that hurt themselves and others because they have not asked Jesus to help them and protect them. Sometimes those things stay with us for a very long time and maybe our whole lives, and even though God forgives us, we will still have scars from those things.

If we have already received Jesus into our hearts we have things to do with our time as well!

2 Timothy 4:2 tells us- Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction
If you are a Christian already, your most important job in the world is to help others come to ask Jesus into their hearts so they can go to heaven also. Just like Believers Square is more fun when there are more kids, heaven will be more wonderful the more people there are! Because we will have more to rejoice about! How awesome to get to heaven and see people there that YOU told about Jesus!

AS we shared our devotional, Mrs G, Mrs Waters and Mrs Branch got our ice cream sundae fixin’s ready. We had all the extras like whipped cream, nuts and sprinkles ready, but we were missing the main ingredient- ICE CREAM!

So as we patiently waited, we talked about how it is nice to have all the ‘sprinkles’ in life- Great friends, a new bike, trips to Darien Lake, swimming pools, skateboards, and so on but its just not as sweet with the main ingredient.- Jesus. Without Him, we just have sprinkles – not the most important part- An everlasting friend to help us, a loving Father to teach us and an eternal home in heaven someday.
To sum up our year of Believer’s Square we learned…While we live in this world, TIME is very important. Be careful not to replace the IMPORTANT with the URGENT. Don’t just Concentrate on SPRINKLES, and NOW is the time to Accept Him and Serve Him!

See you this summer!
With love from Mrs Rose, Mrs G, Mrs Waters, Mrs Branch, Mrs Harris,& Mrs Zimmerman
